On Sunday, October 6th, 2013 From Farm to Forks brought together some of Vancouver’s most prominent chefs and mixologists and paired them with British Columbia’s best growers and producers to create amazing dishes for a fun night of tasting plates, cocktails and wine pairings. Guests enjoyed a culinary adventure of eating and drinking and watching the talented chefs in action. The team from Culinary Capers included: Executive Chef Margaret, Chefs Linda, Maureen and Crystal, Pastry Sous Chef Alysa.
We joined forces with Helmer’s Organic Farm and created a Chanterelle and Helmer’s Netted Gem Potato Lasagna with a Corn Nage.
All proceeds go to Growing Chefs! a non-profit organization that has a special place in the hearts of some of the Culinary Capers’ chefs. Executive Chef Margaret and Chefs Linda, Maureen, Alysa and Christine have all volunteered on their own time to go into city schools to teach kids on how to grow their own food. Here are some thoughtful thank-you letters we wanted to share from the kids!
Growing Chefs! is a non-profit organization that places chef volunteers in elementary schools to teach kids about growing and cooking food. The chefs plant windowsill gardens, teach them about the food they eat, and inspire them with the idea that they can grow their own food, even in the city.
