Reintroduce yourself to this iconic and tranquil city oasis as the setting for a reception and Asian-inspired plated dinner for 76 corporate guests.
Named the World’s Top City Garden by National Geographic, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden is the first and only classical Chinese Garden in all of Canada. Its covered walkways and beautiful pavilions protect guests from Vancouver’s famous rainforest conditions and make it perfect for year-round events. The jade green pond, koi fish, collection of 150-year old miniature trees and tai hu rock imported from China, are some of the delights the Garden offers. Built in 1986 by fifty-three master craftsmen from China and 950 crates of traditional material, it was constructed using 14th century methods – without glue, screws or power tools.
On a warm summer evening guests enjoyed a reception in the South Courtyard followed by an indoor/outdoor seated dinner in the China Maple Courtyard and Hall. Culinary Capers’ event planner Elizabeth Parsons stayed true to the garden’s harmonious beauty and elegantly amplified it with rich gold and red table accents and floral. The global guests interacted with traditional entertainment including Chinese calligraphers, Lion Dancers and a Silk Road ensemble who played a fusion of Chinese folk-jazz-blues-Brazilian instrumental music.
