Culinary Capers Vogue Afternoon Tea

This past fall Nordstrom Vancouver hosted a private client event featuring Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue and Artistic Director of Condé Nast, for afternoon tea and an exciting look at what’s next in fashion.

Culinary Capers Catering designed an elegant menu that served passed hors d’oeuvre followed by seated Afternoon Tea. Three tiered tray stands were filled with the classic combination of finger sandwiches, warm scones and delicate pastries. The refined sandwiches featured a customized collection of traditional and modern tastes  including smoked salmon, apple and watercress and smoked turkey, kumquat marmalade and Manchego cheese on thinly sliced bread.

Debra Lykkemark CEO of Culinary Capers predicts that Afternoon Tea parties will become a fashionable pastime for a new generation and will be a hot trend in entertaining for ladies lunches, fashion shows and weddings. Start with a sparkling wine station with different syrups and liqueurs for your guests to create their own custom drink by adding a splash of one or two of the following to their champagne glass and then topping it with sparkling wine or sparkling water – blood orange syrup flavoured with orange bitters, Grand Marnier, Cassis, passion fruit purée with elderflower, strawberry rhubarb syrup.  Pass a few hors d’oeuvre then present stylish tiered trays at each dining table or on a buffet.  This would be a great idea for DIY entertaining as you can do it all ahead of time.  Invite the ladies to dress up in their finest frock with a hat or fascinator!
